day 12 and 13- swimming with dolphins

Hi guys!
So day 12 was a relaxing day, it started off raining when we got breakfast so we didn't go for our usual walk along the beach but the sun did manage to come out to play a little later so we went to the sky bar to swim and laze about.
We had room service for tea and hubby went to watch the American football while I stayed in the room as I was tired and we had to be up early the next morning.

Day 13 we got up at half 5 to get ready, and had breakfast on our room. We got picked up at the hotel at half 7 (hubby had told me it was 7) and we're taken to the boat. We were going to isla mueres, and the last time i went there we had a big boat so we were expecting the same but we actually had a catamaran type boat! Hubby and I sat at the front with our legs on the net so we got a little wet but we got talking to the Welsh people who were sitting next to us. The sun was very strong so we got really hot but it wasn't too bad as the spray from the sea helped to cool us down.
It took about 45 minutes to reach the island and once there we were given lockers and told to meet at the information centre for our first activity but the guide didn't turn up on time so we had to wait another twenty minutes for him and then they didn't have enough life jackets so we had to wait even longer.  The first activity was with manatees but these were much smaller than the ones we swam with at xel ha, and we were in a group of about 30 so it wasn't as good. We only had about 10 minutes in the water before we had to get out and wait another half an hour to be able to go in with the dolphins. Hubby got a bit annoyed as it seemed as if the people organising it didn't really know what they were doing.
We finally got in with the dolphins and we were in groups of 10. The guide explained to us some facts about dolphins and let us Stroke the dolphin a few times. Then I was picked to go first in holding the flippers and giving the dolphin a kiss on the mouth then letting it kiss my cheek! I was a bit nervous but it was fine.
I was the last person to hold the dolphin to get my photo taken and them swim out to the middle with a board, and the dolphin pushed on my foot to push me back into the group.  It was fun but it felt so weird! Hubby and I were also the last people to have 2 dolphins push against our feet so we came out of the water and basically rode them back to the group. I stayed out of the water for ages so hubby was jealous lol.
When hubby had to kiss the dolphin he got confused and thought he had to kiss it's cheek which I thought was hilarious!!
We were in with the dolphins for about half an hour, maybe 45 minutes which wasn't long at all and the guide just kept telling us the same facts over and over.

After that we went to get the photos, and then we had to get back on the boat to go to garafon where we were told there would be amazing food, snorkeling,  canoeing and a zip line. When we got there the food was nearly all gone so I only had two bits of sushi that wasn't very nice, and hubby had the last tiny bit if chicken.
Hubby went on the zip line but I didn't as it didn't look safe and also looked a bit pathetic compared to the one at xplor,  and afterwards hubby told me that they didn't have all of the safety equipment and you had to brake yourself by putting your hand through a wooden block and pulling down so I'm glad I didn't go on it!
The snorkeling and canoeing were in the same small section of the sea which was roped off so the people snorkeling kept getting hit by canoes! Altogether I think this was the worst part of my holiday and I wanted to go back to the hotel early but couldn't as we had to wait for the boat.
We went to sit in the shade for a little bit, and this is going to make me sound so boring and old, but what Happened to proper bikini bottoms? All I saw were women in thongs!! I didn't want to see people's bums! But I suppose that's their choice.
The boat ride home was quite fun as it was raining and the sea was very choppy. The woman sitting next to me was sick so we moved to let her sit next to the edge, but while moving I fell on some one else!
There was a group of Geordies in front of us and they were so canny! When we got back, they nearly fell over trying to get off the boat but they didn't mind when I fell onto them trying to get off! Hubby helped the woman who was sick get off the boat so I was very proud of him.
When we got back to the hotel I showered and then we went for our evening meal where we bumped into the two Americans from the casino night. After that we went to the sky bar for a bit but came back in when it got too windy.

That's all we did :-)

Day 11- xplor fuego

Hi guys!
For most of the day we just relaxed as it was raining really heavily so we didn't want to sit by the pool, and we were going to xplor fuego later.
At 4:45pm we got the bus to xplor and Ricardo the person who was in the bus with us and explaining everything about the park was so funny! He told us that as we were all adults he would probably make a lot of innuendo etc. He was Mexican but his English was amazing! Hubby and myself were very impressed! He made a lot of jokes, especially about me and hubby as we were the only English married people there, so he was saying hubby should be my slave on the rafts and do all the work and if not he would provide a whip! Ha ha was very funny.
When we got there we were given helmets and a locker.
at the centre of the park was a large red heart that sounded like it was beating, and everything lead back to that heart so it was hard to get lost which was good!
We decided to do the river swim first as Ricardo suggested we do that first as the water gets colder as the night gets later. If you don't know what xplor is its basically underground rivers with stalagmites and stalactites which you can swim and raft around,  it's also in the jungle a bit so there's a car which you can drive around in and there's zip lines (very high up) that goes all over the top of the park/jungle.
The river was warm enough and there was two routes to choose from so we chose the longer one which would take 25 minutes to swim round. There were lights in the caves so we knew where to go and we were told not to touch the stalagmites as the oils we secrete basically stop them from growing anymore! There were only a few lights so it was still a bit dark and we could get the full experience, I think we were very far underground! There were bats flying around too which we thought was so amazing and fish in the river too! It was so amazing and hubby and I loved it!!
We then went on a double raft around another part of the river through the caves, this was a bit more stressful than the swimming as we had to paddle with hand paddles and be careful not to touch anything but the river had rose quite a bit so we had to keep ducking and moving our bodies out of the way of stalagmites.  It was still pretty though.
We then decided to get a drink in one of the two drink places, I had hot chocolate which was so needed as it was a bit cold and raining, and hubby had some Mexican drink that ricardo had told him to get as it had an aphrodisiac in it. There was a mongoose there and the waitress said we could feed it biscuits, and it ate right out of our hands! It was so amazing!!
After that we went to the part where you could drive around the jungle and hubby decided he would drive.  It was pitch black and the only light was the headlights on the buggy car thing which weren't that bright. We didn't see any wildlife but there were parts that told us to turn the lights off and when we did it was so scary as we couldn't see where we were going! Hubby loved it as it was very bumpy and he likes to drive fast but I was a bit scared we were going to crash! It was fun though!
We went to the restaurant to get something to eat and the food was quite good actually with a lot of choice.
We then decided to do the zip lines next. I was so so scared! I'm a bit scared of heights and the thought of basically hanging above the tallest trees suspended by a wire terrified me!! But I knew hubby wanted to do it and I didn't want to spoil the trip so I agreed to do it. There were 7 towers each one taller than the last, a ring of fire and a water landing. At some of the towers hubby and I were allowed to go together, at others we were allowed to go at the same time and on one of them we had to go alone and I was terrified but it was so fun!! I wanted to do it again! I can't explain the feeling but it was so amazing!
After that we did the river swim again and then went to get another drink. This time there were raccoons which the hubby fed!
At about half 10 we got changed and took some photos and then went to collect the photos the park took and we got picked up at 11:15 PM.
We got back to the hotel at 1am and I wasn't tired so stayed up a bit watching TV.  I think it was the adrenaline still as xplor had given me a proper rush!

We had another chat and both rated xplor fuego 10 out of 10 and would recommend it to everyone! It was the most amazing thing I have ever done and so exhilarating.

Day 10 cancun- xel ha

9Hi guys!
Today we got up at 5am as we had to be at the hotel lobby at between half 6 and 7 as we were going to xel ha! If you don't know what this is it is like a park where there is a river you can snorkel in, a few animals like mongeese running around, there's a 'jump of courage' which is a jump off a cliff, and other activities like swimming with dolphins, snuba diving (yes snuba not scuba) etc. It sounded really good so we had decided to go. We had been told that we were all inclusive on the trip and could do all of the activities but when we got there it turned out we had to pay extra for any activities!
It took about 2 and a half hours altogether to get there, although we were on a pink bus for most of the journey which I loved!
We decided to pay for the manatee experience,  the sea trek and snuba diving.
By the time we had made it to the beginning of the river (apparently you had to start there if you wanted to go into the river even though there were lots of places to get into the river) it was time to go to the manatee experience so we ended up not snorkeling!
The manatee experience was amazing but I was really scared! There were 2 manatees and myself and hubby started with the larger of the two. The trainer told us to avoid swimming above the manatee or near the tail as every 20 minutes the manatee would go to the surface to breathe and we would get injured if we were in the way! We had to wear a life jacket and a snorkel and mask, and got to feed, stroke and swim with the manatee. At one point I lost where it had gone as I had had a problem with my mask and hubby told me it was underneath me which I panicked about! It was huge! After a while it decided it was bored and wouldn't come back to us anymore so the trainer took us to the smaller manatee which had been born in captivity.
With the smaller one we had to pose for a 'kiss' with it but for some reason it kept trying to pull me over so the trainer got a bit mad at me! It wasn't my fault though it was very strong but eventually I got a kiss! When hubby was trying to pose for a kiss the manatee kept trying to swim to me and the trainer was getting a bit panicked at why the manatee kept coming to me even though I was nowhere near them so I had to get out! Apparently it liked me ha. When we got out of the water we were given a towel and the trainers explained to us why it is important to look after manatees by not throwing plastic bags in the water as they die if they eat it, and by being careful if in a boat as they get their heads and backs cut by the propellers so they are in danger of dying out!
We had a little walk around the park while waiting for the next experience to begin. We found the cliff jump which we both did but I landed very awkwardly in the water as for some reason my legs came up during the fall so I hurt my legs, I didn't want the lifeguards to know though so I just grinned and swam anyway but once out of the water and back with the hubby I nearly cried! My thighs were bright pink and so sore and I had little cuts on one of them :-(
We had something quick to eat and then made our way to the sea trek. When we got there we were told it was cancelled due to the weather, and we would have to go back to the front desk to get our money back. Hubby went to get the refund while I watched the dolphins -they were so cute!  The man at the front desk tried to get hubby to choose a different experience but we didn't want to, so he tried to give a refund in American dollars (but we had paid in Mexican pesos and had been warned that the exchange rate meant that if we got dollars we wouldn't actually get the full amount back so hubby asked for pesos) after about twenty minutes we finally got our refund!
We had a couple of hours before the next experience so we went on the zip lines, which were surprisingly fun and only little so I wasn't scared! Hubby went on a rope obstacle course over the water and nearly Completed it :-) and then we had a little swim around the river. We had an inflatable double ring but hubby couldn't steer it properly but he blamed me so I ended up getting out and pushing it! Lol
We went to snuba diving, there was a bit of a problem to begin with as there was only enough equipment for 4 people (us and another couple) but 2 more people turned up with a ticket for the same time so the instructor had to go and try sort it out, he came back and asked us if we had cancelled ours and I said we had cancelled the sea trek but not this one and only got the refund for the sea trek, so the instructor said that he would still take us as we hadn't cancelled it. I felt sorry for the other couple as we would have hated to be messed around like that but it wasn't our fault, we hadn't cancelled it and hadn't got the money back so it was still ours as far as we were concerned and the other couple still went out just at a later time.
We had weights tied around us, and had the equipment tied to us and then we went to the water. We got instructions on what to do and then had to practice breathing out to sink rather than swimming to the bottom. I got it immediately and the instructor (daniel) said he was very impressed with me but hubby and the other couple had to practice a bit more. The woman from the other couple still didn't get it after a while so she decided not to do it but her hubby still did and we set off. It was so fun but hubby had to surface twice and I got a bit worried about him but daniel told me to leave hubby and keep diving as he would be fine. It only lasted half an hour actually diving so I wish we had longer but it was stunning and there were so many fish! Hubby enjoyed it once he got over his panic, which was good.
After that we had to go and get changed into dry clothes and go get the photos as it was nearly time to leave.
Overall it was a good day, but nothing like I was expecting and we were disappointed at not being told we had to pay extra for the activities, we suggested that it should be made clear to people as no one else had known either.

hubby and I had a chat about what we would rate xel ha and both decided about 6 or 7 out of 10.

Days 8 and 9

Hi guys!
So I forgot to do posts about these two days :-/
We basically swam and sunbathed during the day, and we went to the mall again to compare the prices of cameras as hubby wanted to get a new one but the one he wants worked out at about £100 more expensive than back at home so after 4 hours of wandering about shops he decided he didn't want to get it yet, especially as there is a new version out now back at home!
So, we then had to wander about the shops some more to get dridocks for our phones as my camera isn't waterproof and we couldn't find any waterproof cases for it so we decided to take our phones to the trips instead. We also were recommended by my sister to get those shoe things (I don't know what they're called) that have amazing grips on the bottom but are like wetsuit material on the top for when we go on the trips so we had to look for them too. I wanted some pink ones but the only ones in my size were blue!
We went to the casino night and hubby won at roulette (it was in the hotel so weren't playing for real money lol) while I watched and held the drinks as I don't like gambling even with fake money but I did have a laugh with the man running the roulette table and got to spin the roulette wheel too! Hubby played poker for a couple of hands and I got talking to a couple of Americans who were so lovely! They were from new York and they loved my accent! They even compared myself and hubby to Kate and will (but then changed it to Kate and Harry as the hubby is ginger! ) which I found funny and flattering! I know I don't look like Kate but it was nice to be told I do! We stood talking to them for quite a while after the casino ended which was nice as usually I am very shy and reluctant to talk to new people in case I look stupid but they put me at ease.
After a few more drinks we had to say our goodbyes and go back to the room as we had to be up at 5am the next day!

Day 8 cancun

Hi guys!
I feel like I'm being boring with these posts as it doesn't seem like we have done much but it is so much more fun than what it sounds!
Today we went for breakfast super early as Liverpool were kicking off at 7:30am Mexico time and hubby wanted to watch it. When we went to the sports bar there was no TV on but they nicely found the match for us so hubby was happy! There were some welcome meetings going on and I don't think they were too happy when the hubby kept shouting at the TV though!
After the match we went to the sky bar. We stayed there for a few hours as it wasn't too hot, and we love to watch the boats and jet skis in the sea. There were also some helicopters flying above us and loads of birds diving into the sea to get fish!
We had some food in the jacuzzi bit and then sat in the sun to dry off but they were setting up for a wedding and a woman with the wedding party told the staff to make us move (which we would have btw but the wedding wasn't until 6pm and it was 11am at the time) but the waiter told her we didn't have to move yet. We would never get in the way of a wedding or spoil anyone's day but when we first arrived there in the morning there was no indication there was going to be a wedding and the staff told us as Long as we weren't in the pool by 5pm it was fine.
The hubby had to see a doctor as he hurt his neck and shoulder, so that was a bit of a worry but he was told that he should see a chiropractor when back home, and until then I had to apply some cream to his back 3 times a day.
We went to the shopping malls again as hubby is still looking at cameras and now has decided he doesn't want to buy one here! We spoke to some policeman as we walked past the police station and they were just standing out the front so we just had a laugh with them.
I had a shock when a lizard ran out in front of me and the hubby videoed the lizard then chilling in the sun! Lol
Back at the hotel hubby went to the games night to see if they had fifa while I chilled in the bar and then we went to the pool bar and for a night Time walk along the beach.

How has your week been?

Days 6 and 7 cancun

Hi guys!
So day 6 was pretty uneventful, we went for our usual walk along the beach in the morning, went to the sky bar and pool most of the day. We had our evening meal at the Italian restaurant but neither of us were very hungry (I felt a bit ill) so we only had a main course (spaghetti carbonara). I think the waiters were a bit bemused by this as we had had to wait a little bit to go in!
The evening entertainment show was drums and fire which was really good! We took loads of videos which hopefully I will be able to upload when we get home.
Day 7 we went to the moon palace golf and spa resort for the day. As it is part of the palace resorts we can go there for free and use all of the facilities there.
The moon palace hotel is massive and so gorgeous! There are 3 lobbies as it is so big, and each lobby has its own little part of the hotel, and there is a lobby to lobby bus running every 10 minutes.
There are loads of restaurants and pools and it has is its own section of the beach.  There are a few places to buy trips from, and it even has its own jet skis etc. There's a place to learn to scuba dive and mini golf. We had such a good day there!
There is a machine that simulates the waves so you can surf on it which hubby had a few goes of while I recorded it for him, I was going to have a go but I wimped out (but we are going back on Monday so will be trying it then...wish me luck!) We had a lovely walk along the beach and went out on the jet skis, and had some gorgeous food and generally just wandered about. We saw some massive lizards which we also took photos of and videoed as we are a bit sad like that! There were cafes where we got some ice cream but the coconut ice cream didn't taste right so I was gutted!
We were knackered by the time we got back to the hotel! We had a quick shower and went for a meal and then went to the  bar.

That's it for the two days.

Day 5 cancun

Hi guys!
So today was my birthday!! I refused to let hubby tell anyone though as I am shy and didn't want anyone to make a fuss!
We had breakfast in bed which was lovely, although there was too much food! And then hubby wanted to go to Walmart to buy a go pro camera and decided we had to do that today even though I wanted to relax by the pool. So we got the bus to Walmart and they didn't even sell the camera so hubby decided we should walk to the next mall which was a half hour walk away (or 4 minutes by taxi or bus but hubby wouldn't pay lol). So we walked around the middle of nowhere in the midday heat hoping to stumble across the mall, we very nearly got run over and loads of men kept driving past hanging off the back of pick up trucks which I was a bit scared by but we did end up finding the mall! Unfortunately they also didn't sell any cameras but there was a pet shop and we had to have a look! The animals looked really unhealthy and unhappy though, especially the dogs.  They kind of looked up at us and then just fell back to the floor and looked so unhappy! I felt so bad for them!
We got the bus back to the hotel, had a shower and then went to watch the American football (again hubby choice not mine) and didn't get any food! There were some Americans watching baseball and being very loud but their team won so I guess is understandable! There was meant to be an ideal couples competition but no one signed up for it so they got people to play musical chairs instead which was hilarious! And then there was live music which was really good.
I rang my mam in the morning as it is the anniversary of my grans death too as she died on my birthday 24 years ago and she gets upset still so I wanted to make sure she was okay.
That's it for today! Hope you have all had a good day!

Day 4 cancun

Hi guys!
I was woken at 5:45am today by the hubby as he was super excited to go and get breakfast, he has found some mini muffins that he loves and he is addicted to them! So I had to get ready really early to go get breakfast, unfortunately they didn't even have the muffins today so hubby was gutted!
After breakfast we went for a walk along the beach, but we went in the opposite direction to what we normally go in and we went past the first ever hotel I stayed in in cancun! We got quite wet as we were walking in the sea and the waves kept getting bigger and bigger but it was good fun! Not many people out that early in the morning so it didn't matter really, it was super hot though! We seen a pelican diving into the sea literally about a metre from where I was standing to get a fish and we wish we had taken our phone or camera to video it as it was so amazing! I have never been so close to something so amazing in the nature before! It was fantastic! It got a bit too hot for the hubby so after about an hour we went back to the hotel to get changed and go swimming.
We went up to the sky bar again as it is my favourite place, but someone had taken the bed we had the other day so we had to go round the pool that gets busier. This isn't that much of a big deal but I'm shy and I panic around new people and even if I really want to go in the pool, if too many people are in then I won't go in as I get too scared of being around people I don't know.  Hubby doesn't understand this and says in being stupid but I have always been the same. Luckily when we got there it wasn't too busy so I got a bit of swimming out of the way before the crowds came. While we were there, an American man came over to talk to us and started the conversation with 'hi guys you having fun? Myself and the wife both work for the service she's a nurse and I work in medical supplies and it's good for us to relax, what do you guys do still at college' hubby said he delivers beer and the man turned to me and said 'what do you want to do when you leave college?'I was like erm I'm not at college I actually work in a hospital too as a biomedical scientist, at which point he looked shocked and said 'oh, I hadn't realised you were clever' and walked away! I hate being judged because I look like a bimbo! Although I actually don't look like a bimbo but for some reason some people think I do!
Anyway, after that I had a shower and we went for a couples hot stone massage which was amazing! It lasted for 80 minutes. When we first got there we were taken to a seated area and given a hot oat bag to put around our necks and left to relax. The lighting was dimmed and they had candles and waterfalls around and it was so gorgeous. After about 10 minutes we were led into the massage room and asked to take everything off and lie face up on the bed (separate beds) and lie under the sheets. They put cloths over our faces and towels over our bodies and lay hot stones over my chest and stomach. The massage was then a mixture of oils and stones over pretty much the whole body and we had to turn over so they could massage our backs. It was the most relaxing thing I have ever experienced and I would highly recommend it to everyone!
We then had our romantic meal but it was a set menu and we didn't like the food so it was very disappointing but the scenery was fab.
We then had an early night because hubby fell asleep when we went back to the room to get changed.

Day 3 cancun

Hi guys!
Today was so hot again but we spent most of the day under the cover of la isla which is a shopping centre in cancun.
The hubby was happy as there is loads of shops like Adidas, calvin klein,  Marc Jacobs etc so we spent a long time looking around! I saw two gorgeous watches that I want (Michael kors and armani) which we are going to get tomorrow as we only took a little bit of money out with us, and hubby saw loads of things he wants including Ralph lauren polo shirts which are cheaper here than the UK,  a Hugo boss tracksuit and a watch. We could have spent so much money there and will be going back tomorrow :-) there's loads of makeup too but I didn't like how all the sales people literally wouldn't leave my side so I could look so we didn't get any.
We went to a diner for lunch, johnny Rogers or something I think, as the hubby absolutely loves philly cheese steaks and they had them, so we got one each and he had half of mine too as I wasn't too keen on it. I got a vanilla milkshake that was amazing! I love American style diners, they are probably my favourite place to go to eat and I wish they had them in the UK! Hubby selected some songs on the jukebox to be played and he selected ones that reminds him of me like brown eyed girl and my girl which I thought was really sweet of him!
As I got burned yesterday and the day before I covered up my shoulders today. My nose got more burned though which I'm gutted about as I wrinkle my nose a lot without realising and now it hurts!
When we got back to the hotel hubby went and got us some food from the sky bar and a couple of drinks and we chilled in the room.
We went for our evening meal at wok which is a restaurant in our hotel. We wanted to go to the Italian but the hotel book had got the two mixed up and stated that you needed to be dressed in a suit for wok but It was actually the Italian and hubby was wearing shorts. I had sushi, and chop suey which were both so gorgeous, and I even ate the sushi with chopsticks! Hubby had rice with mixed meat and soy sauce, and then noodles with mixed meat and soy sauce followed by a shot of flaming sambucca which was hilarious to watch! Our waitress was amazing and we loved her!
At 9pm there was a break dancing show by the pool which was amazing and hubby videoed parts on his phone so if I can I will upload some footage. It was genuinely amazing and in parts I was fascinated by it! They got an audience member involved and I told hubby that if they tried to get me up he had to stop them as I am too shy! It was good fun though and the woman they chose was forced to go up by her mate and she didn't look Happy, but neither would I!
We had a few drinks and when we got back to the room we ordered some more drinks which we had on the bed on the balcony watching the boats on the lagoon.

Hope you enjoyed this post, as I am taking photos on my camera not my phone I will try to add photos later.

Cancun day 2

Hi guys!
So the second day here in cancun has been super sunny and I got burnt!! I have burnt my nose, shoulders and chest :-(
We got up really early as we went to bed early last night, so we had breakfast (hubby has found so many food he likes here which is good and I had waffles!!) Then we went for a walk along the beach. We played in the sea a little bit then went back to the hotel for our welcome meeting. Our rep gave us his mobile number so if we need anything we can WhatsApp him which I thought was so nice of him!
We went up to the sky terrace on the top of the hotel and there were loads of sun loungers but the type that are actual beds, and 2 pools and 2 Jacuzzis and a bar so we stayed up there for most of the day.  From the pools you could see both the lagoon and the sea which I love!! I spent most of the time in the pool as I had it all to myself ;-) the waitress was super nice as well and kept coming over to make sure we didn't want anything.
We had a nice bubble bath in the whirlpool bath and then I had a shower to wash my hair. We were meant to be going to the casino night but hubby fell asleep bless him! I tried waking him but he wasn't having any of it so I left him and rang my mam instead. He woke up much later and we ended up getting room service as we were too late for a meal! The room service was really good though :-)
That's all we did on day 2, hope you enjoyed it.
I wore a bikini from primark (I know it sounds cheap but they're actually really good) and shorts.

Beach palace- cancun

Hi guys!
As some of you may know I am in cancun for 2 weeks. I wasn't going to post anything, and after thus post I might not post again depending on how busy we get :-)
We flew from Manchester airport and it was hubby's second long haul flight so he got a bit restless towards the end. The flight itself was fab, it was on the Thomson dreamliner and I will admit I got a bit excited by the windows that can change colour! The meals were gorgeous, we had chicken pasta bake, brown bread, cheese and crackers and chocolate mousse for lunch and egg sandwich, and scone with cream and jam for afternoon tea.
The movies were really good, I watched the other women, tinkerbell and the pirate fairies, this means war, the carrie diaries and birds of a feather and I played who wants to be a millionnaire.  It was actually really good fun!
We got a private taxi through thomsons to our hotel, we weren't sure where to get the taxi from as I have only ever been on a coach from the airport before so we asked the rep and he told us to go and stand down by the car place where there was a big crowd of people. We had to wait about 15 minutes before another thomson rep came and took our name and showed us to our taxi but after that everything was fine. I pointed out all the hotels I've stayed in in the past to the hubby as he has never been here before and we had a chat with the taxi driver.
When we arrived at our hotel I was.given flowers, and we were both given cold lemon scented towels to refresh ourselves with. Everyone was so friendly and in no time we were checked in!
The hotel was the beach palace hotel in  cancun if anyone wants to know :-)
We were told to see guest services as there was a surprise for us but hubby wanted to put our things in the room first.

The room is the best I have ever stayed in! There was a whirlpool bath, champagne chilling in ice and some chocolates for us! We have a closet with complimentary bath robes and slippers, the mini bar was full of Heineken for the hubby and there was a separate pullout stand with vodka, rum, whisky and tequila for shots. The balcony has a bed lounger in it as well as a table and chairs which I thought was such a good idea as the other hotels I've stayed in have only provided a table and chairs! There is a shower too which is quite big and the normal things like tv,  table and chairs inside, dressing table, hairdryer, straighteners, iron, ironing board, king size bed and safe.
When we went to guest services we were offered a couples massage, a romantic dinner for two on the terrace next to the beach on the night of our choice, an alcohol surprise to come to our room in the next two days and matching t shirts which I thought were so cute!
The rest of the day we spent walking along the beach, we had something quick to eat and then went to bed!

That's it for day one, hope you all enjoyed it :-)

X
Oh and I travelled in a vest top, hoodie and a maxi skirt as I knew it would be super hot when we landed so could take the hoodie off and be cool in my skirt and vest top.  Hubby travelled in black combat trousers and a grey hollister t shirt.

The spiders I have encountered

Hi guys!
This may seem like a very weird post but I was having a conversation with my sister about the various spiders that have been in my house and decided I should share them. By the way, I am very scared of spiders normally and if any actually come into my house I usually get someone to remove them, but these are the ones that have made a lasting impression on me.

Bob 1
This was by far the cutest spider. You might say that spiders don't have personalities or whatever but I beg to differ. Bob the first was a tiny spider that lived on the ceiling in my bathroom. Usually when I see a spider, I scream and ask someone to remove it for me but bob seemed so small I just left him. His favourite part of the ceiling seemed to be directly over the shower, and I was a bit worried that when I was in the shower he would drop on me and as much as I was willing to leave him alone I didn't want this to happen. However,  every time I turned the shower on he would pause for a few seconds and then run (often falling off the ceiling and have to climb back up the webby thing they make as he was running so fast, it was like when little kids run really fast and keep falling over) as far away from the shower as possible. I found this so cute, as soon as the shower was turned off he would start to take tentative steps back towards his favourite spot, as though he was scared the shower would come on again. Sadly bob died when LJ squashed him :-(

Bob 2
This was a spider the same size as bob 1 but lived in the downstairs toilet room rather than  the upstairs bathroom. I only let him stay there because I thought he would be cute like bob 1 but he ran out in front of the hoover one day and unfortunately I didn't react in time.

Bob 3
Lived behind the sink in the downstairs toilet. Again he was the same size as bob 1 and more sociable than bob 2. When going into that toilet, Bob 3 would come out from behind the sink and walk along the wall beside you.  Ordinarily this would have scared me but I found it quite cute and as soon as you left he would go back behind the sink. He died of natural causes (by this I mean I went in one day and he was dead).

Pablo
Now I didn't like Pablo. He didn't stay in the house for more than 2 hours that I know of but I did find him on the light shade. He was running about but as soon as you looked at him he would stop.  Can you remember the childhood game where one person would be the wolf and other kids would shout what time is it Mr wolf and run towards him but if the wolf turned round you had to stop moving,  it reminded me of that.  I did get LJ to remove him because I was scared he was going to drop on me and eat me alive.

Ben
This is the spider that lives on the wing mirror of my car. He likes to sit in the middle of the mirror,  but when I start the engine he moves to the side so he's not in the way. I know this is probably entirely coincidental but I'd like to think he's just being nice and helping me out by allowing me to see in my wing mirror.

So that's my spiders (I use the term my loosely) and I know that people are going to wonder why I have done a post about spiders but I Don't have any pets yet and the spiders mentioned have mostly shown some form of personality which had amused me. X

A little update, and a bit of a personal post

Hi guys!
I haven't been as active on twitter or my blog as I would have liked to be lately, so I thought I would do a post catching you all up on what's been happening!

I had an interview at another hospital for a higher band than I'm in now, and although I got offered the job I had to turn it down because of the cost of travelling to that hospital. I was extremely nervous for the interview and on the day I was actually asked questions relating to another discipline as well as the one I'm in which I wasn't expecting and I had to basically 'wing it' but obviously I did okay! My tip to anyone in an interview is say things with confidence even if you don't know if you're right or not, that's what I did and I got offered the job so it works :-)

As a result of having the interview at another hospital, my hospital decided they didn't want me to leave so I am now able to do the portfolio that I have been wanting to do for a long time now which I am happy about! I didn't actually want anyone to know that I had had an interview incase I didn't get offered it but I did tell a couple of people that I thought I could trust and then somehow everyone else found out but it showed how much people actually care about me as everyone who asked me about it didn't want me to go but wanted me to be happy and my boss who usually talks down to me was really sweet and said he didn't want me to leave as I'm really good at my job and was the one who got me to be able to do my portfolio.

Myself and my husband nearly split up, we split up for a few days and everyone I told was so supportive here! My friends back home were supportive the first time I told them about it but then didn't talk to me about it much after that whereas the people here who I thought I didn't really get on with have been supporting me and making sure I am okay! It has made me see that I have misjudged people and they are actually lovely. I am currently not sure what is going to happen with me and my husband as I do love him and can't imagine being without him but he has cheated on me numerous times and doesn't seem to care about me. If I was a stronger person I would end it for good but I don't do well being alone especially in a city so far away from home so we will see what happens.

He was also threatened on a night out which scared me as they threatened me too but although I'm not sure they know who I am it still gave me sleepless nights!

It doesn't seem like much but that is what's been happening lately and the reason that I haven't been as social as I would have liked to be.

Hope you are all well and have had a fab couple of weeks.

Autumn tag

Hey guys! I thought I would do the autumn tag as I love the autumn and winter seasons! I tag anyone who wants to do this tag :-)

1. What's your favourite drink from Starbucks/costa/cafe Nero?

I don't like coffee so my favourite drink for autumn is hazelnut hot chocolate. I know you can get it all year round but I just love it when it gets to autumn so it does remind me of autumn. Plus I love the smell, it also reminds me of autumn months. I have my hot chocolate with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles :-)

2. Accessories- what do you opt for, scarf, boots, gloves?

I love wearing boots in the autumn, they look fab and keep my feet toasty warm! I wasn't the scarf and hat type of person until last year (surprisingly where I live now is actually colder than Sunderland) but now I love wearing them with gloves. I like them all to match and I try to match them with my outfit too!

3. music- what's your favourite music to listen to during autumn?

I don't think I listen to anything different I  autumn than I do any other time of the year.

4. Perfume- what's your favourite scent for this time of the year?

I wear my honey by Marc Jacobs in autumn and winter. It isn't a very autumn scent but I love it.
I do change the smells of the products that I use in the shower though.  I like to use products that smell of maple, and other warm scents.

5. Candles- what scents will you be burning this season?

I love burnt orange smells and cinnamon scents at this time of the year. They remind me of autumn and of my days at school when my teacher used to burn candles in the colder months.

6. What do you love most about autumn?

I love the changing fashions, I prefer to be wrapped up warm than having flesh on show so I love that this is the season when I can start to wrap up and wear warm woollen clothes! I love the colours that come out in autumn with the changing colours of the leaves.

7. Favourite makeup look?

I haven't changed my makeup look during seasons before but this year I have started to change my eye shadow colour to golds and browns, and my lips are a darker colour than in the summer. I use the same blusher but I do love the darker eyes and lips. I have also started to change my nail varnish and am loving a dark burgundy look and a chocolate brown look.

8. What are you looking forward to most in autumn?

Being able to wear my thick jumper over leggings with comfy boots.

Hope you enjoy this tag!

The British tag

Hi guys!
I thought this was such a fun tag to do!! I tag anyone who is British :-)

How many cups of tea do you drink per day and how many sugars?
When I lived with my parents I drank 3 cups per day with milk no sugar, and now I drink one a day with milk no sugar.
I only drink PG tips as no other tea taste the same and I don't like the after taste that other teas leave. I also like green tea, and green tea with lemon.

favourite part of your roast?
The Yorkshire pudding without a doubt! My mam makes the best ones, I love the bottom to be crispy on the outside and a bit soft on the inside. I also like pigs in blankets (sausage wrapped in bacon) but we only have these on special occasions.

Favourite dunking biscuit?
I have two, hobnobs because everybody knows that they are the best! They don't just get soggy and drop into your tea like some biscuits do (rich tea I am looking at you!) And chocolate digestives because I actually love how the chocolate melts into the tea a little bit.

Favourite quintessentially British pasttime?
I'm not really sure how to answer this, as I am not sure what British pasttimes there are other than queueing and moaning about people who don't queue properly and moaning about the weather. I do all of these things but I wouldn't say I love doing it!

Favourite word?
My favourite word isn't a British word as such, it is a northern word I think and one which we use in Sunderland where I'm from...canny. I love the word canny. Since moving away from the north east I have been asked to explain what I mean when I say canny and honestly I never know how to explain it! It just means canny! Ha

Favourite Cockney rhyming slang?
I wouldn't say I have a favourite, mince pies for eyes maybe? My dad likes to use rhyming slang a lot so maybe he has a favourite! Although I do love the way that del boy talks!

Favourite sweets?
Not sure how British this is but at beamish there is an old sweet shop that sells peppermint sticks and I have loved them since I first had them when I went on a school trip.

What would your pub be called?
I'd like to think something fun but I'm not really sure,  I will let you know when I own a pub! Maybe something like the pink Wellington or something!

No1 British person?
Kate Middleton.  I don't really love the royal family but I think she seems like a genuine, caring person.

Favourite shop/restaurant?
I'm not sure if it's British but I think it is...so John lewis or Fenwick as they sell everything and do really cool Christmas windows! I also like selfridges obviously! I don't think I know of any British restaurants but Bettys cafe in York is pretty amazing.

Which British song pops into your head?
Is there a British song? The only song that pops into my head is the metty mission song which I'm sure no one else will know but is basically about the metro stops on the metro line from monument to north shields. It actually helped me when I first started working at wet and wild as it helped me to know when I got off the metro!
Or any by dire straits.

I'm. Not sure how well I answered these questions but it was fun anyway!!

The Italian farmhouse, sunderland

Hi guys!
I went back to Sunderland for the weekend as I haven't been up for a while, and it was mine and LJs first anniversary.  We decided we wanted to go for a meal at the roker hotel where we got married, and my dad had read a review about a new restaurant that had opened there called the Italian farmhouse so we thought we would give it a go.
For those of you who know the area, it is where the Tavistock italia used to be.
I couldn't take any photos as it was not really the kind of place where you could just whip your phone or camera out and take.photos or record anything, which I actually loved about it.
The inside is split into two rooms separated by alcoves,  and there is a counter behind which is a stone oven. The tables are quite close together, but not too close to put you off. There is paper lantern light shades around the lights and the walls are brick or brick effect, and have large lights on them spelling out words like pizza.  It sounds weird but it is actually really nice!
We didn't have a starter but I really liked the look of the bruscetta, it was actually quite good in that if you didn't want a proper meal you could select some starters to have as a main and they adjust the size of the portions! I thought that was a really good idea and the people on the table next to us did that and shared it, and honestly it looked so amazing!
LJ is a but funny with food, and didn't want to try doing that so we got a proper main meal each. I got chicken breastfeeding filled with mozzarella and tomato with veg. The chicken was cooked to perfection and literally just fell off the bone. The filling was gorgeous, and there was a bit of crispy skin on the top. The veg came in a separate bowl, the new potatoes were a tiny bit dry but were full of flavour, and there was corguette, pepper and onions. They were all gorgeous and it is genuinely the best meal I have had in ages!
LJ had pepperoni pizza (no surprise there) and he said that the pepperoni was the way it should be where it was a little spicy and had a bit of a kick to it.
We were full but it was our anniversary so I decided we should have dessert, there wasn't much to choose from which was disappointing but I got mississippi mud pie and LJ got ice cream. It was lovely but I would have preferred proper chocolate cake but it was nice.
For drinks I had diet pepsi as I don't drink wine or lager and there wasn't any other alcohol on the drinks menu, but it was nice enough.
The staff were all really friendly, the only problem I had was that after our main meal we asked for a dessert menu and we had to ask three times before it was actually brought to us but other than that it was fab.
The setting of the restaurant is amazing though as it is literally opposite the beach, you can't see it while you're in there but as soon as you leave it is right opposite and that is what I love.

Altogether I would give it a 10/10 for food and a 9/10 for service. The price was reasonable too it came to £30.

I can't wait to go back again and I would recommend it to everyone so if you're in the area have a pop in!

Homemade lasagne, ikea, York and a blanket

Hi guys!
Sorry I haven't done a post in a while, I have been very busy! I had meant to post about my trip to York but it was pretty uneventful and I didn't have time to take many pictures so the only ones I have are of the train journey.
I made homemade lasagne for myself and LJ last week, and I was so proud of myself that I took some pictures.
My mam taught me how to make lasagne when I lived at home and it is my signature dish!
The picture below is half of what I made!! Think I put too much cheese on though.
LJ and I put up some more drawers from ikea (I am loving Ikea at the minute) and I think they look fab! They are just a temporary solution until we get the wardrobes and drawers for our bedroom, so we have one set in the living room currently and one in our room to stand the tv on.
We also have a new bed in our room now, which I love but I want a better mattress! LJ can't believe that my dad always buys mattresses that are over £1000 but the two we have at the minute were less than half that and you can tell! I think with mattresses you get what you pay for so when we have more money I am going to get a better one!
I also dug out my me to you bear blanket with sleeves that my mam bought me when I moved here as although we are only 2 hours away by car, it is much colder here in the winter than it is in Sunderland (weird I know as it is the same country) so she bought me a blanket with sleeves so I can work while being comfy and warm.

Other than that we have both just been working all the time.
How has your week been?

An update

Hi guys!
Sorry I haven't posted on this blog for a while, I have been busy with work and have been super tired recently and haven't been feeling very well. I have been having bad headaches lately, been feeling sick and my wisdom tooth is causing my jaw to hurt and my ear to hurt so much I nearly cried.
Anyway, we have ordered a bed for our main bedroom from bensons for beds and should be coming this week. I am so excited for it! We have also just bought two chests of drawers from ikea, they are grey and are going in the smallest bedroom. We got them as a temporary thing to put our clothes in while we furnish the main room. They were only £45 each and we may decide to keep them and decorate that room around the drawers, or we may get rid of them when the rooms are all done and we have wardrobes.
L has bought all of his clothes for the holiday now,  well nearly all anyway! I haven't bought anything yet but I am excited for when I do! I want some dresses, skirts and shorts, and I want some statement necklaces that I can use on holiday and then when we come back home.
My parents have just come back from Mexico but they were at the other side to what we are going to so they had a really quiet holiday. We are going to cancun so are going to have a very active holiday!
I have been trying to lose weight but some things have happened that has made me eat chocolate (I know there are no excuses but when I am upset I eat comfort food). I have been trying coconut milk instead of normal milk which is less calories apparently and I have been drinking more water. I have recently discovered volvic touch of coco pineapple which is gorgeous!
I think that is everything that has happened since I last posted other than work related things.

Trying for a baby

Hi lovelies,
As most of you will already know by now L and I are trying for a baby!
After 5 years of being on the pill I am officially not taking it anymore!
I am a but worried but I know that we are ready, and we have a house and enough money that we can support a baby, and give the baby everything they want.
I am so excited too as I have wanted to be a mammy for a while but we knew we had to wait until we were financially stable. The one thing that is bothering me is that I haven't had a period in 5 years since I started the pill and I remember them being painful and getting back ache but I haven't experienced them in so long it worries me a little. I know women go through it every month and it's not that big of a deal but I'm a big wuss!
If anyone has any tips on how to deal with period pain etc let me know as I think I'm gonna need it!!

My weekend and a christening part 3...meal with a footballer

0Hi lovelies,
This is the last part about the christening weekend :-)
As I mentioned in part 2 the party finished quite early so L and I decided to go out for a meal. His footballer cousin (I will call him j for this) asked if he could come too as he didn't want to go home but also couldn't stay out all night as his wife would shout at him so the best thing to do was spend time with us. I have already mentioned that he is one of the nicest people I have ever met and one of the nicest in that family.
He had the car with him (a proper flashy number, i was suitably impressed) so he drove and decided to go the docks. We went to gusto's and sat outside as it was so sunny and honestly it was gorgeous. The sun was shining on us and we were right by the river/dock, it was fab.
I had bruscetta with tomato and avocado for starters which was lush, L shared and although he said he liked it he admitted to me later that he didn't,  and we both had carbonara which is the nicest I've ever had and I almost always order that if it's on the menu everywhere I go. J had a salad as he was training but then he ordered dessert! I had homemade doughnuts with chocolate sauce and cream and oh my world they were to die for! J wasn't impressed with his dessert so I shared mine with both of them.
Everything about the meal was amazing, including the service. It is one of the nicest places I have been to in Liverpool and I didn't even know it was there.
J wore sunglasses throughout the whole meal which was odd!
He also did the whole 'I'm just going to the toilet' thing when he was actually paying the bill, I didn't even realise what he had done but we are paying next time! We have been invited to his new house over the summer to stay with him and his wife and baby which will be fab!

After the meal he went home and L and I went back to the hotel, we were going to go to the cinema but L fell asleep while waiting for me so we just watched TV in the room instead...boring aren't we!!
Early in the morning I drove him to various family members houses to drop beer and stuff off and there was very nearly a divorce when he messed up directions again!! Who tells someone to get in the right lane then as soon as there is loads of cars in the left lane say oh you should be in that one actually, then when I manage to squeeze into that lane then admits that they are lost!! Annoying. But we managed to get everywhere we needed to be and he left me in the car while he went on for a cuppa a few times so I caught up on the you tubers I like to watch.
We went to Kirkby to see his uncle who was poorly and to pick up the rest of his clothes, then we went to maccies and drove home.
I got stuck in traffic but it wasn't too bad, although L kept telling me to come off at the wrong exits and as I don't know the way I just believed him.  So stressful.
But all in all it was a fab trip.

My weekend and a christening part 2...The christening

Hi again lovelies,
Well as you know if you read part 1 we didn't make the ceremony and were late for the party but only very slightly.
When we got there we went straight over to the mother of the baby, L's lovely cousin but she was busy with face painting so it was a quick hello then we went to sit with the family.
I love seeing his family as they make me feel so welcome and they all asked when we were having a baby (it made L agree we could start trying as soon as my pill runs out next week so I'm super excited) and they all asked if he was treating me right etc.
There were some famous people there as he is related to them, we had a very very famous singer/bass player who is also a.songwriter and whose house was bought for him by a famous solo artist. He is L's cousins husbands brother and uncle to the baby. He was so cocky though and I didn't even recognise him at first but that's because the music they play isn't my type at all.
There was a footballer whose wedding we went to last year and him and his wife are my favourite people in L's family as they are so lovely!! His wife wasn't there though as she was with their baby and her family which was a bit sad for me as I was excited to see her.
The party itself was so good for children, there was face painting, candy floss machines, party games, a kids entertainer and a surprise visit from oopsy daisy and iggledy piggledy (not sure if I got the name right) from in the night garden which was exciting for the kids and the footballer got his photo taken with them to send to his wife for his son!
There were goodie bags and prizes and all of the kids seemed to have a really good time.
There was a buffet but I didn't get much as we were going for a meal after but I did have an amazing cupcake that had the babies photo on it which I thought was a really good idea.
It was an amazing day but finished at 5 so L the footballer and I went for a meal.
The cousin that doesn't like me is also the babies aunt and she ignored me the entire time.  She spoke to L when he wasn't with me though but I didn't really mind. She is in her 40 s or 50 s and was wearing a mini dress, long platinum blonde hair extensions and heels that were bigger than mine which looked a bit tacky so I don't care if she doesn't like me just because I'm not like her.

See you again soon

My weekend and a christening part one...travelling

Hi lovelies,
I have decided to do this in three parts as it would take too long to do it all in one lol. Myself and L were invited to a christening in Liverpool on Sunday and L really wanted to go as it was his cousins baby and he hasn't seen them in ages.
as we don't live in Liverpool anymore but an hour away, I suggested that we stay in a hotel in Liverpool center for the weekend, but L decided it was too expensive to stay both Saturday and Sunday night so decided to book it for the Sunday.  This was fine until I realised that not only had he told me he booked the Hilton then didn't,  but on Saturday night told me that the christening was at 10:30 Sunday morning and the party started 12pm. We had planned to set off early anyway because we had heard something about the tour De France and some roads were meant to be shut and we weren't sure which ones but I had planned on being able to get ready in the hotel before hand because no one wants to drive in their best clothes really. He assured me it would be fine and although we would miss the ceremony we would be able to check in early and be ready in time for the party and only a few people were going to the ceremony anyway and one of them hates me.
So I packed my stuff (he had said he would do it while I showered and stuff but he fell asleep so I ended up doing it anyway) and his stuff too and we set off really early.
There was no traffic at all but a few people did nearly cause crashes, not with me but with people in front of me which set me on edge a bit. And as I've never driven through Liverpool centre, L had to direct me and what a laugh that was!! He was giving me no warning at all to turn, like I would be past the turning and he would say oh turn left there! And he was telling me to be in the wrong lanes, it was such a good job I was the only car! There were a few times when the lane split into two but in a way that meant if I carried on at the positioning I was then I would be in both lanes so I asked him what lane to be in and he said 'this one' which didn't help at all! Or he would say stay in this lane but actually mean move into that lane! I got so stressed!! He then directed me to the wrong place and I had to do an illegal u turn and go back on myself! I was so relieved when we finally got to the docks where we wanted to be!!
It was still really early so we paid for parking and then went for breakfast at the wetherspoons, which was surprisingly busy and full of irish men drinking alcohol already! I was a bit shocked as it was only 9am on a Sunday morning! We had the breakfast wrap and orange juice but my wrap had minging black things in it so I left it.
We went shopping a little, but as I am on a spending ban all I got was glamour magazine (which I am subscribing to this month) and he got clothes for the holiday, trainers, and bits and bobs. He did let me look at the makeup counters in Debenhams but it's not as much fun if I can't buy things! He was looking for a dress shirt as the one he had wanted to bring he couldn't find so he had to bring his other one which he doesn't like as much (my fault obviously). He just wanted a cheap one so went into primark and saw one he liked the look of but wanted to see what it looked like on. When he went to try it on though the woman said he couldn't but could try a shirt of the same size on, he explained that he knew his size he just wanted to see the style and colour but she said he could only try a plain white long sleeved one. He said it didn't matter and the girl rolled her eyes at the other worker there and glared at him. The other girl said well just try the white one on and stop making a fuss. I don't normally say anything because I am shy but she had been glaring at me while I was looking at shirts with him earlier so I already didn't like her but when she said that I saw red. I said to her 'firstly he is not making a fuss he has said it doesn't matter and we are going to leave it makes no difference to us. And secondly when you buy a dress that you like the colouring and pattern of do you try it on to see if it suits you even though you know your size?' 'Well yeah obviously' she said giggling, I asked if she would buy it without trying it and she laughed again and said no so I said 'well aren't you a bit out of order laughing and rolling your eyes at him and making comments when all he wants to do is something you do every time you buy new clothes. ' she didn't know what to say. I don't like to be rude but although we didn't understand it we weren't making a fuss, he had said it didn't matter and gone to leave but they made a fuss of it. What would you have done? I said it calmly and didn't talk down to her or lose my temper.
Anyway, we had a look in a few more shops (where he could try the shirt on) but he didn't like any of them so we ended up just going back to the car.
We had a walk around the dock which brought back good memories as we had our first date there so it was nice. And then we went to ask if we could check in early.
At first they said there were no rooms available so I asked if there was anywhere I could get changed and explained why and she said we could check in early if we didn't mind having an internal room.
The room was actually the nicest I've stayed in in this country, the window just looked on to a feature rather than outside but the air con was amazing so that didn't bother us and it had brick walls and a brick ceiling so felt quite rustic. We loved it!! The bed was massive and we had everything we needed for the night.
We got ready super quick and although L had said we would get a taxi he changed his mind. I was wearing a dress and really high wedges so I wasn't too happy about walking from the docks to the met quarter as I couldn't walk very well but he made me anyway to get the bus.  We actually ended up missing the bus and getting a taxi anyway so I was fuming as I had twisted my ankle (didn't fall though) and was in so much pain.
But this is where part 2 starts.
I hope I haven't bored you so far :-)

How has your weekend been?

My week overview

I'm not sure if you all like this type of post but I like writing them :-) if you want to see more of these please let me know.

I have been at work all week, including the weekend, but I can't complain as I knew what I was getting myself into when I started working for the nhs.
I did have my final echocardiogram on Monday and my heart is fine, it's very strong and healthy apparently.  I was hoping I wouldn't have to take my bra off again but unfortunately I did. Luckily L was there with me this time so he talked to me throughout the whole thing so I didn't get embarrassed like last time. It's just weird lying with your boobs hanging out in front of a stranger (well a nurse but still).
But anyway, it has been a mixed week as there were a few sad days like when a patient died and a baby was diagnosed with leukaemia, I hate it when sad things happen and I will admit that I do cry when a patient dies.
I also got shouted at by a nurse for something that was her fault but I am not allowed to shout back so had to be super polite while being told that I can't do my job. I ended up getting upset after she hung up as it's never nice to be in that situation especially when it was their fault but i guess that everyone goes through something like this.
I did however get told that I'm a very nice person and i had my appraisal at work which i was very happy about.

At home L and i have decided on a bed that we are getting for our bedroom and we are going to ikea today to get some more drawers (I am also going to try and sneak in some makeup storage facilities) which I'm excited about!!
We did a big shop at asda a few days ago and L managed to leave a bag of shopping there so we had to go back to get it, but they had already put all of the food away so we had to work out what we had put away at home and what we hadn't got so we could go and get it all off the shelves again! What a farce that was!! He won't be doing that again I'm sure.
We were invited to go to York with his friend (I did a post about this) but I am working so won't be going. I am however going on a night out with the people from work which I can't wait for! And I made posters for another night out in July but don't think I will be going to that.
I received my benefit beauty score box, which L wasn't happy about as he expected the products to be larger than they were for the price we paid but I am happy with it.
I tried to get in touch with m ( my friend from home who has just had a baby) as she was always wanting me to be there for her while she was pregnant but she was very short with me. She said she was stressed, unhappy and tired with her baby which I'm sure new mums are (hopefully I will have a baby of my own soon) and I suggested she let her husband/father of her child have the baby for an hour while she had a bath but she said it wasn't fair to leave him with the baby alone. I am in no position to judge as she pointed out I do not have a child and I don't know what women go through but I am sure that when we have children L will look after the baby alone sometimes to give me a chance to rest. I am not judging her at all, I just think that she should have been a bit nicer to me as we were really close and I was always there for her throughout the pregnancy. I understand she is busy with her new baby but it would be nice if she asked how we were occasionally instead of just complaining about her baby.

We are going to see Mrs Brown's Boys film today which will be good as we hardly get time to just have a date anymore.

What have you all been up to?

But I just don't like her...

Hi lovelies,
I was in a bit of a predicament earlier so thought I'd share it with you lovely lot. As you all know I am married, and as a married woman I do try to get on with L's friends. Unfortunately most of them are just not very nice people and L does change when he is around them, but I still try to be nice whenever we see them.
There is one friend of his that I like but he has a girlfriend who I just can't stand. I wanted to get along with her but when someone tells you that you are mental and don't want your fella to have any mates so shouldn't be getting married one week before the wedding, you are going to dislike them. Just to clarify I am not mental and this was said because SHE rang ME from Thailand (yes thailand) saying that her fella and L apparently hadn't gone back to her fellas house that night. She thought they were up to no good and I couldn't get hold of L. Previous to this L had gone out with his mate before and cheated on me a few times (yes I know I should have dumped him then but he promised he wouldn't do it again) so understandably I thought the worse (which then turned out to be true but I didn't find that out until we were married). I told her what I thought and said that's why I didn't really want L and mate going out alone (although I wouldn't stop him) so she came out with that.
She then tried to stop the mate from being best man at our wedding, eventually agreeing to let him come if they could leave straight after the speeches and if she could be at the top table. I agreed to this cos it was what L wanted but in every single wedding photo she is glaring at me. Everyone has commented on it.
Anyway, L rang me today and asked me if I wanted to go to York with them in a couple of weeks time. I really didn't want to as I can't stand her but at the same time I want to be a good wife to L so I didn't know what to do for the best. If I agreed to go I would have to be nice to her which I don't want, I'm not horrible to her I just don't speak to her. But luckily for me I can't get the time of work so I was given a perfect excuse for not going without looking awful.

What would you all have done?

The kitchen

I'm not sure if I've already mentioned this but I have decided that the colour scheme of our kitchen is going to be red. The cupboards are cream, the floor is a pale grey and the worktops are a dark wood (we didn't choose it) but the walls are white. I decided when we bought the house that I wanted Russell hobbs kettle, toaster and microwave that are metallic red because as soon as I saw them I fell in love. L knows how serious I am about getting them so we have decided to make the kitchen match this.
We are getting red tiles for the section of wall in between the top and bottom cupboards, which I think will look amazing but I don't think we should get all red I think red and cream or red and white to break the colour up a bit will look amazing.
I am also getting a metallic red large clock to go on the wall above the radiator and we already have red crockery and mugs.
I will post pictures as we start it :-)

What are your thoughts on a red themed kitchen?
